The history of the “Hotel Alexander” dates back to 1955, when a small private house was built here and inhabited by two elderly English ladies who had retired to Meran.

In 1960 the house was altered and extended and converted into a bed-and-breakfast hotel. Its original name was “Sayonara”, a fashionable name in the 1960s. When our family took it over in 1980 it was in a desolate state, scarcely suitable even for the requirements of the time. Its location was however unique, so we conjured up the necessary enthusiasm to make something special out of the building. It had to be fully refurbished, although only in stages. We also renamed the hotel. Receiving our fourth star after exactly 10 years was naturally an important milestone, not just for us but also for our regular customers. In the winter of 2003/2004 we extended the hotel with comfortable suites and doubled the size of the premises with the outside facilities.
